CSI-challenge #249

After a little break I´m back doing LO’s again. This winter I spend much time working and travelling and little time in my craft room. And right now I’m trying to figure out how many of all my pictures I took during my journeys I can fit in my Project Life album.

That made me so confused so I decided to do some LO:s for I while and then I saw this challenge with camping theme. That suited me perfect because I just got back from a camping safari in Tanzania.
We spend 6 nights in three different parks in Tanzania. 3 of them we slept in a tent in Serengeti National Park, the biggest and the most famous of them. The tent was placed inside the park, no fence, the wild animals were walking nearby.
When we went to bed at night a guide escorted us from the restaurant tent to our tent to provide a safe walk. And we fell asleep to the sound of branches bursting and hyenas screaming.
This was a very special experience and I loved living so close to the animals. So I chose not to have pictures from the animals we saw in my LO, but focus on the camping adventure.

So here is my contribution to the CSI-challenge #249.

And here is case that I solved:

The colors in the case can be found in my background paper and the colors I used stamping and inking the zebra stencil. They can also be found in the pictures and in my decorations.
I tried to shape the zebra pattern as the shape of Africa, but it turned out to be mission impossible. The stencil was to small and to regular.
The African stamps comes from Amy Design and the Adventure-text from Technique Tuesday.

I cut out the words Serengeti from an alphabet die I have and then I drawed a thin line of black around them, to make the pop up more.

I chose to write my journaling on craft paper, stamp it with a stamp with wood texture. I chalked the edges to make it look like old wood and created an old sign.
We actually saw a lot of old wooden signs in Serengeti, so this was perfect for my LO.

The evidences are:
- Wood
- Woodland animals (I hope an African monkey counts)
- Trees (in my pictures)
- Signs
- Arrow
- Camping items (in my pictures)
- Decorative border
- Twigs/branches

The testimonies are:
- Topic: Document an outdoor memory
- Presentation: Add your journaling to a sign.
- Inspiration words: Adventure

Best regards Marit

  1. What an awesome experience that must have been ! You did a really nice job creating the safari look. That zebra stencil was the perfect backdrop for your photos. I also LOVE the journaling written on the sign post. The way you distressed the edges makes it look even more realistic. Very cleaver. The stamping in red and green adds just that little extra bit of colour. Well done, Marit. Thank you for sharing your layout with us at CSI.
